I am giggling a bit inside as I write this review given the real topic at hand. So before I get started a bit of background and perhaps a little too much insight into me as a human being.
I am a bit of a metrosexual and germophobe. I am just happiest when I am clean. Fortunately, I am also some one who is very…”regular”. I get up in the morning, drink my coffee, do my “business”, get a shower and go about my day. Given these details, I am NOT HAPPY when things are out of order and I have to do my “business” after I shower.
The thought of a bidet was nothing new, but being from the U.S. I never used one. Its not that I had never seen a bidet. Bidets and I had crossed paths and even caught each others attention in an intense moment on a few occasions, but our timing was always off.
That all changed in September of 2022 when my wife and I traveled to Italy for our honeymoon. Without getting too detailed and to keep this G rated, the the time change impacted my “regular-ness”. I found that I needed to do my “business” outside of the normal sequence of events. Rather than get another shower I thought, lets give this bidet thing a shot. IT WAS A GAME CHANGER. It wasn’t the blast of water I think most people expect, but rather a second bowl next to the toilet with a faucet, a separate soap and towel so you can wash up after finishing your “business”.
Now, here we are over a year later and my wife bought me the Slimedge Bidet Attachment from Bemis as a Christmas gift. So let’s get to the details of the review and away from my personal psyche.
Design & Aesthetics: The Bio Bidet SlimEdge features a sleek and modern design. From what I have read, its slim profile is less intrusive than many other bidet attachments, allowing it to blend with most contemporary bathroom fixtures. The clean, white finish gives it a neat and professional look, ensuring it doesn’t detract from the overall bathroom aesthetic.
My one Con here is the fact that it can only be installed on the right side of the toilet. This makes sense as most people are right handing and water line attaches on the right of most toilets. I am not sure how they could make the attachment configurable without having to sell right and left handed models. However, as you will see in the photos the water lines do take away from the aesthetics for toilets that are exposed on the right side.
Functionality: This bidet attachment is equipped with dual nozzle spray options, providing both posterior and feminine wash. The control dial is intuitive and easy to use, allowing users to adjust the water pressure to their comfort. The nozzle’s self-cleaning function is a convenient feature, ensuring hygiene is maintained with minimal effort.
Installation & Compatibility: Installation of the SlimEdge is straightforward. It’s designed to fit most standard two-piece toilets and some one-piece toilets, making it a versatile choice for different bathroom setups. The attachment comes with all the necessary parts and detailed instructions, making it easy for DIY enthusiasts without the need for professional assistance.
The installation took less than 15 minutes. This included unpacking the box, reading the instructions and gathering tools from my basement. The only tools I used were a standard screwdriver and adjustable wrench. The screwdriver was used to uninstall and reinstall the existing toilet seat. The adjustable wrench was used to attach the water lines.
User Experience: Users seem to find the SlimEdge to be a comfortable and effective hygiene solution. The adjustable water pressure means it can cater to various preferences and the dual nozzles provide targeted cleaning. However, some users may find the cold water only feature a bit challenging, especially in colder climates, myself included.
We, for better or worse, have high-water pressure. The dial allows for precise control over the amount of pressure. This is important as the pressure at the higher level is borderline uncomfortable.
The SlimEdge does not replicate the experience I had in Italy, which was more like bathing in the shower. From what I understand, the bidet attachment more closely replicates the experience associated with Japanese style bidets, which is like “power washing”.
Value for Money: Priced reasonably, the Bio Bidet SlimEdge offers good value for its features. It’s an affordable entry into the world of bidets. It provides basic, but efficient functionality without the high costs associated with more advanced models.
Conclusion: Overall, the Bio Bidet SlimEdge Bidet Attachment by Bemis is a great option for those looking to upgrade their bathroom hygiene without a significant investment.
